Behavioral Health Tech - Ridgeway
About The Position
Community Counseling Center (CCC) is seeking a Behavioral Health Tech (BHT) for its Ridgeway program, an Intensive Residential Treatment Service (IRTS) for adult females with chronic mental health diagnoses. The role involves providing direct care and support in a therapeutic environment, focusing on safety, comfort, and a trauma-informed approach. Responsibilities include assisting clients with daily living activities, teaching functional living skills, participating in activities, collaborating with the treatment team, documenting client observations, conducting checks, ensuring client safety, transporting clients, intervening in crises, distributing medications, and maintaining the facility.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED/HSE
- Must hold Valid Driver's License (Class E for Missouri or Class D for IL Residents - Obtain on start date) and current continuous auto insurance.
Responsibilities
- Provide care to clients in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment based on a trauma informed approach.
- Promote and educate clients regarding activities of daily living including household management (i.e., attending to bedroom, laundry, etc.) and self-care management (i.e., hygiene, grooming, medication, etc.) tasks and responsibilities.
- Teach functional living skills such as anger management techniques, impulse control, social/communication skills, relaxation skills, emotional coping skills, etc. based on the client's individual treatment plan.
- Participate in recreational and social activities with clients.
- Collaborate closely with the treatment team to appropriately coordinate client care services.
- Complete and chart client observations in accordance with agency policy and procedure.
- Conduct ongoing checks; including personal belongings, room checks, and grounds checks based on agency policy and procedure.
- Ensure protective oversight of clients, monitor the condition of clients, and follow agency policy and procedure regarding medical emergencies or elopement.
- Responsible for transporting clients in agency and/or personal vehicle as deemed necessary and appropriate to meet program requirements.
- Intervene in behavioral health crisis situations when needed.
- Distribute medications and document such based on agency policy and procedure. Immediately report medication errors based on agency protocol.
- Cleaning of the facility and grounds as needed.
- Document according to clinical policies and procedures, DMH, CARF, and any other federal or state program per agency standards.
