About The Position

This position is for a Behavioral Health Technician at a Pediatric Psychiatric Hospital. The facility has an average daily census of 30 patients and maintains a staff-to-patient ratio of 1:4 during day/weekend shifts and 1:6 during night shifts. The unit cares for patients aged 3-18 and is staffed 24/7 by RNs and Behavioral Health Technicians, with physician and therapy teams available during business hours. The facility is Magnet-designated. The role involves working with adult or pediatric patients in acute inpatient child and adolescent psychiatric units. Special requirements include a mandatory MoVechs background check, which takes a minimum of 3 weeks to clear and requires traveler involvement. Initial applications and Docusign packets must be completed within one week of a signed contract.

Requirements

1 year of experience as a Behavioral Health Tech.
BLS certification.
MANDT or CPI certification (must have to submit).
Cardiac arrest /CPR skills.
Ability to work weekend rotation.
Ability to work holidays if they fall on scheduled days.
Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility.
Must be responsive and complete all required documentation ASAP for the MoVechs process.
Must complete Docusign packet within 1 week of signed contract.
Must submit MoVechs application within 1 week of signed contract.

Responsibilities

Provide care in acute inpatient child and adolescent psychiatric units caring for patients ages 3-18.
Maintain a patient ratio of 1:4 during day/weekend shifts and 1:6 during night shifts.
Work onsite with Pediatricians, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Therapists, RNs, and other Behavioral Health Technicians.
Ensure patient safety through Room/Patient Safety Checks.
Implement Behavior management techniques.
Provide Crisis Intervention.
Utilize De-escalation techniques.
Manage Assaultive Behavior.
Perform Milieu management.
Employ Therapeutic communication skills.
Assist with Restraints-Application and use of restrictive devices.
Manage the use of seclusion.
Obtain Vital Signs (Blood Pressure, Pulse, Respirations, Temperature).
Respond to Cardiac arrest /CPR.
Complete MoVechs background check process, including initial application within 1 week of start and mailing/emailing required DSS and state documents.
Be responsive and complete all required documentation ASAP for the MoVechs process.
Complete Docusign packet within 1 week of signed contract.
Submit MoVechs application within 1 week of signed contract.
