About The Position

Mercy Medical Center, a member of Trinity Health Of New England, is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Specialist to join their team of highly specialized integrated behavioral health professionals. The Behavioral Health Specialist will provide behavioral health consults, assessments, individual treatment, family consultations, care coordination, referrals, and participate in multidisciplinary teams, primarily within the hospital and emergency room.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a social work field including, Social Work; Marriage and Family Therapy; Psychology; and/or Mental Health Clinician.
  • Requires two years of clinical experience working with at risk populations.
  • Requires the ability to communicate with target population.
  • Requires culturally Competent Interpersonal & Communication Skills.
  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of the local community.

Nice To Haves

  • Level I – Licensed at a LSW or LCSW level or with the capability to be licensed preferred.
  • Level II - Licensure at a LICSW, LMHC or LMFT level required or LCSW with at least five (5) years of crisis assessments experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts assessments in various settings including crisis assessments in the emergency department.
  • Builds caring relationships with target population to promote positive health and social service outcomes.
  • Improves access to health and human services for target population through in-person interactions, telephone contacts, and coordination of referrals.
  • Collaborates with team members to determine care plans from admission to discharge, with family and service providers.
  • Collaborates with external agencies or facilities to coordinate referrals to care and will direct any appropriate follow-up.
