About The Position

Johnson County Mental Health is looking for qualified applicants to fill the position of a Full-time, Behavioral Health Specialist for the Adult Crisis Stabilization Center, a new program at the Johnson County Mental Health Center. The unit has 24/7 operations and typically individuals stay in the program for up to 3-5 days. This position is eligible for a shift differential specific to overnight hours($1.50/hr), weekend hours ($0.75/hr), and evening hours ($0.75/hr). Schedule shifts available for this position: Overnight shift: Monday through Friday, 11pm-7am Evening shift: Monday through Friday, 3pm-11pm Posting will remain open until position is filled.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and one year of experience working in a human services field are required.
  • A valid driver's license with acceptable driving record is preferred.
  • Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with adults in a behavioral health setting is preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals in a behavioral health and/or substance use setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides, assists with, or coaches individuals on personal care needs with limited supervision.
  • Provides crisis interventions (including evidence based practices to maintain the safety of individuals).
  • Monitors adult interactions and behaviors.
  • Monitors medication administration as prescribed.
  • Monitors and documents mental and physical condition of individuals.
  • Teaches, coaches and provides guidance and support on various skills to enable productive lives of individuals.
  • Assists clients with managing their emotions.
  • Assists and supports individual treatment/recovery goals.
  • Assists clients in developing positive coping skills.
  • Develops and maintains a positive and effective relationship with service recipients, families, and other service providers.
  • Organizes and participates in meetings related to care coordination.
  • Completes documentation for direct services provided to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • May transport individuals receiving services to appointments, activities, and/or work.
