About The Position

The Behavioral Health Specialist provides direct patient care under the supervision of a designated healthcare professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, and within policies, procedures, and guidelines of Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH). This role ensures quality patient care by providing vital sign measurement, maintaining patient hygiene, assisting with mobility, and supporting unit-based specialty duties. The specialist acts as a liaison between the patient and nurse to report changes and share pertinent information, and provides accurate, precise, timely documentation when applicable for patient care. Responsibilities also include completing patient rounding, 15-minute patient checks, and patient safety companion services as assigned, as well as collecting patient data and completing patient screenings. Participation in continued education and in-service training is also expected. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 year of experience in a mental health or health care setting (preferred)

  • Bachelor’s Degree, related field
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) American Health Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
  • State Tested Nursing Aide (STNA)

Responsibilities
