About The Position

The Site Behavioral Health Supervisor (SBHS) is a key member of the Site Leadership Team, working in close partnership with the Site Medical Director, Primary Care Clinic Manager(s), and Clinical Team Supervisors to ensure the successful integration and delivery of behavioral health services within the primary care setting. The SBHS provides clinical, operational, and administrative supervision to all integrated behavioral health staff at the clinic site, including Behavioral Health Clinicians, Mental Health Clinicians, Enhanced Care Management (ECM) team members, Psychiatric and Behavioral Health Coordinators, and Substance Use Treatment team members. The SBHS ensures alignment of behavioral health workflows with site-level operational priorities, supports staff development, ensures adherence to regulatory standards, and promotes a trauma-informed, equitable, patient-centered model of care.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of behavioral medicine, integrated behavioral health models, and evidence-based practices.
  • Understanding of the social determinants of health and challenges facing underserved populations.
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to mentor and develop staff, provide constructive supervision, and support performance improvement.
  • Critical thinking, time management, and problem solving abilities.
  • Competence with EMRs (Epic preferred).
  • Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid, community resources, and care coordination principles.
  • Experience in motivational interviewing, health coaching, patient advocacy, and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Bilingual Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Experience supervising behavioral health or social service staff.
  • Experience facilitating interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment with minimal direct oversight.
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field required.
  • Minimum one year of relevant clinical experience; internships may count.
  • Active licensure or path toward licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) required.
  • BLS required.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

  • Experience in community health, behavioral health, care management, or similar settings strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a core member of the Site Leadership Team alongside the Site Medical Director, Primary Care Clinic Manager(s), and Clinical Team Supervisors.
  • Collaborate closely with site leadership to ensure behavioral health services are effectively integrated into clinic operations.
  • Represent the behavioral health discipline in leadership meetings, operational planning, staffing discussions, workflow improvement efforts, and quality initiatives.
  • Support organizational goals related to integrated care, population health, trauma-informed care, and health equity.
  • Provide clinical and administrative supervision for integrated behavioral health team members, including: Behavioral Health Clinicians, Mental Health Clinicians, Enhanced Care Management team, Psychiatric & Behavioral Health Coordinators, Substance Use Treatment staff.
  • Provide clinical consultation to support integrated workflows and complex care coordination.
  • Supervise MSW, BSW, LPC, and related interns to support training and development.
  • Oversee site level onboarding, orientation, skill development, and competency training for behavioral health staff.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide coaching, and support disciplinary processes when needed.
  • Ensure staffing coverage, workload balance, and operational efficiency aligned with clinic needs.
  • Partner with site leadership to ensure effective coordination between medical, behavioral health, care management, pharmacy, dental and operations.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care meetings, operational planning sessions, and workflow redesign activities.
  • Support consistent implementation of integrated behavioral health models and evidence-based practices.
  • Ensure staff compliance with regulatory and documentation standards, including OHA, HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Support monitoring, auditing, and quality improvement processes related to behavioral health documentation and workflows.
  • Maintain familiarity with EMR workflows (Epic) and ensure staff adherence to documentation requirements.
  • Promote a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented care approach.
  • Attend community or organizational meetings as required.
  • Participate in initiatives that support program development and system improvement.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
