About The Position

National Youth Advocate Program is accepting internship applications for the Spring, 2027 to our STAR (School Based) team for our Columbus region. In this role you will get hands on experience working with youth in schools. You will also have the opportunity to observe other therapeutic areas throughout the agency to gain insight to the communities and clients we serve. This position works closely with youth, family, foster parents, and community partners. This opportunity is for students enrolled in a Masters of Social Work or Masters of Clinical Counseling Program in an accredited College or University.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a Masters of Social Work Program from an accredited College or University
  • An internship or field placement is a requirement by the institution.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Good driving record
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability

Responsibilities

  • Working with outpatient mental health clients in the community, office, or school setting
  • Working in case management
  • Learning diagnostics assessments and treatment plans
  • Assessing and engages with youth
  • Observing interventions for youth
  • Interacting with caregivers, parents, foster parents, school staff, office staff and other mental health professionals
  • Learning documentation and paperwork.
  • Traveling daily, to provide services to youth and families
