Under the direction and immediate supervision of the Gambling Disorder Prevention Program Coordinator, the Behavioral Health Prevention Specialist (BHP) provides prevention, education, screening, brief intervention, and referral services related to gambling disorder and substance use throughout the community. The BHP works collaboratively with schools, community organizations, healthcare providers, and other behavioral health programs to increase awareness of substance use and gambling disorders and promote early identification and intervention. This position delivers community presentations, implements school-based prevention curriculum, conducts evidence-based gambling disorder screenings, provides brief intervention utilizing motivational interviewing techniques, and facilitates warm referrals to treatment and recovery supports. Approximately fifty percent of this position supports Gambling Disorder Prevention Services, with the remaining fifty percent supporting Trinity Services' substance use recovery and prevention initiatives.
