About The Position

Nexus Family Healing is seeking a 1st Shift Behavioral Health Practitioner for its new youth crisis and stabilization center in Hennepin County. This 13-bed, short-term residential service is designed for Hennepin County youth facing complex mental and behavioral health issues, aiming to provide appropriate care and reduce their placement in unsuitable settings like emergency rooms, police stations, juvenile detention, or unstable home situations. The center will offer treatment and therapeutic supports while facilitating triage, assessment, and transition planning with families. Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Nexus Family Healing driving requirements
  • Must have the ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges
  • Must be open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering factors such as language, traditions, and values
  • Successfully participate and complete a three-part Therapeutic Crisis Intervention exam and training
  • Must successfully pass a DHS criminal background check
  • 30+ college credits in behavioral sciences + 2000 hours of supervised related experience or practicum/internship
  • 4,000 hours of supervised related experience with mental health populations
  • Currently enrolled in a behavioral sciences graduate program with assigned clinical training
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in behavioral sciences + practicum/internship

Responsibilities

  • Support and reinforce the therapeutic plan of clients by providing guidance and direction to residents in their daily living activities
  • Provide mentorship and supervision of resident daily activities and behavior according to established guidelines and procedures
  • Participate with coworkers as a team on implementation of treatment plans and therapeutic services
  • Remain cognizant of individual client phases, privileges, restrictions and adapt interactions accordingly
  • Ensure resident safety and collaborate with coworkers to maintain an environment that is positive, respectful, clean and therapeutic
  • Work effectively with clients’ families/support networks to reinforce positive family partnerships; Follows established protocols in the use of family engagement and involvement techniques
  • Plan and participate in off-campus resident activities and assist in the transportation of clients to home visits, doctor appointments, planned recreational activities
