About The Position

Join our team and help lead the nursing care that supports individuals on their journey toward better mental health and wellness! We are seeking a Behavioral Health Nurse Supervisor to provide clinical leadership and supervision of our behavioral health nursing team. This position will oversee the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed nursing services to individuals with mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders. The Behavioral Health Nurse Supervisor will work closely with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, therapists, case managers, primary care providers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure patients receive coordinated, comprehensive care.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio.
  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, preferably in behavioral health, psychiatry, substance use disorder treatment, community health, or an FQHC setting.
  • Previous nursing supervisory or leadership experience required/preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric medications, behavioral health nursing practices, and clinical documentation.
  • Experience with quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and staff development preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, support, and evaluate behavioral health nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and MAs.
  • Provide clinical guidance, consultation, and leadership to nursing staff.
  • Oversee nursing workflows, staffing, scheduling, and day-to-day clinical operations.
  • Support medication management services, including administration and monitoring of psychiatric medications and long-acting injectable medications as appropriate.
  • Ensure nursing assessments, documentation, medication administration, and other clinical services meet organizational, regulatory, and professional standards.
  • Collaborate with psychiatric providers and interdisciplinary teams regarding patient needs, treatment plans, risk concerns, and changes in clinical status.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
  • Monitor quality, productivity, documentation, and clinical outcomes and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing education, training, coaching, and competency assessment for nursing staff.
  • Support compliance with FQHC, state, federal, licensing, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Provide oversight of the organizational Infection Control Policy and Plan.
  • Assist with onboarding, retention, and performance management of nursing staff.
  • Promote a patient-centered, trauma-informed, culturally responsive approach to care.
  • Respond appropriately to clinical emergencies and assist staff with crisis assessment and intervention.
  • Promote collaboration between behavioral health, primary care, substance use disorder, and other healthcare services.
  • Participate in leadership meetings, clinical initiatives, audits, and program development.
  • Provide direct nursing services as needed based on program and patient needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
