About The Position

The Behavioral Health Intake Manager works in Mary’s Center’s outpatient behavioral health clinic and oversees the process of intake into services. The intake manager is responsible for establishing and managing a new open access intake system aimed at improving access to care, reducing wait times, and triaging cases based on level of need. This position will hire and supervise Intake Therapists. This position is responsible for providing direct services to 10 clients per week. Candidates must have current licensure to practice psychotherapy in the District of Columbia (LICSW or LPC) and be licensed or eligible for licensure in Maryland. Reportability This position will report to the Behavioral Health Clinic Director.

Requirements

  • This position requires a master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field and a license (LPC or LICSW) in the District of Columbia.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee intake for all clients referred to behavioral health services in outpatient clinics in Washington DC and Maryland
  • Establish and oversee walk-in clinics where new clients are seen for intake
  • Ensure intake visits include, at minimum, an introduction to Mary’s Center services, gathering information about presenting problem and client needs, and sharing information about expected wait times, interim supports, and other options for care
  • Establish and lead a bi-monthly case conference meeting to review all clients referred, make a clinical determination on the type of service needed, and prioritize cases based on level of acuity
  • Ensure ongoing communication with clients on the waiting list around expected wait times
  • Provide administrative and clinical supervision to one Intake Therapist who will be responsible for conducting intake visits
  • Train department therapists, as needed, to complete intake visits
  • Provide crisis intervention services, as needed, to clients with emergent needs.
  • Obtain and maintain certification as Officer Agent in Washington, DC in order to complete FD-12 process as needed
  • Be knowledgeable of other providers, agencies, and higher levels of care to appropriately refer participants when at capacity or Mary’s Center cannot serve a participant’s needs
  • Ensure all stakeholders, including behavioral health staff, other Mary’s Center departments, Mary’s Center participants, and community partners understand the open access intake system and know how to refer
  • Serve as BH department liaison with Call 4 Health medical answering service. Collect concerns, issues, and any needs from the department, and communicate them to Call 4 Health to find appropriate solutions. Make updates to the Call 4 Health call flow when needed.
  • Participate in departmental clinical meetings and coordinate with clinical managers as needed to facilitate transition of clients and continuation of care.
  • Provide individual therapy to 10 clients/ week
  • Explain therapist’s role and client rights and responsibilities, including confidentiality and mandated reporting
  • Complete a diagnostic assessment for all individual therapy cases, gathering information from referral source, client chart and other pertinent sources, including family members and past providers of care
  • Determine DSM-5 diagnosis
  • Complete treatment plan and authorizations for services as required by individual insurance payers
  • Provide psychotherapy to assist clients in their insight development and achievement of personal goals identified in treatment planning process
  • Document all contacts, referrals, and other necessary information
  • Maintain client records that are accurate, comprehensive, and adhere to documentation policies and billing timelines
  • Meet weekly productivity standards as set by Director
  • Engage families and significant others as needed to support treatment goals
  • Apply crisis management skills when necessary to stabilize clients
  • Maintain monthly statistics and provide reports as needed to Director
  • Participate in weekly case reviews of clients in peer group supervision
  • Accept cultural diversity and integrate the family’s values and culture into services
  • Provide 24 hour on-call phone support to clients in rotation with other therapists, 1-2 weeks per year or more as needed
  • Identify and participate in other trainings or committees that can further enhance professional growth
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical Services, Senior Director of Behavioral Health Operations, and Chief Programs Officer.
