About The Position

This position involves conducting face-to-face psychosocial assessments and intake evaluations, administering neuropsychological and psychological tests, and facilitating individual, group, and family counseling. The role includes cognitive behavioral therapy group counseling, case management, utilization review, discharge planning, and therapeutic intervention. The counselor will collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate care, provide patients and families with resources and education, and assess psychosocial risk factors. Responsibilities also include counseling patients and families on the effects of illness or disability, mobilizing community and family resources, providing mental health assessments, serving as a primary point of contact for abuse and neglect cases, acting as a liaison with protective agencies, providing clinical intervention support for guardianship, foster care, adoption, and mental health placements, and supporting individuals in acute crises through de-escalation techniques.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a closely related field
  • Five years of experience as a Clinical Psychologist or Behavioral Health Counselor in a clinical or hospital adult behavioral health setting
  • Experience in neuropsychological and psychological testing
  • Must possess, or be eligible to obtain, an Indiana license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor (LCAC)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct face-to-face psychosocial assessments and intake evaluations
  • Administer neuropsychological and psychological tests
  • Facilitate individual, group, and family counseling, including cognitive behavioral therapy group counseling and case management
  • Perform utilization review, discharge planning, and therapeutic intervention
  • Collaborate with members of the healthcare team to coordinate care and provide patients and families with appropriate resources and education
  • Assess psychosocial risk factors, including prior functioning, support systems, reactions to illness, and coping abilities
  • Counsel patients and families regarding the emotional, social, and financial effects of illness or disability
  • Mobilize community and family resources and provide mental health assessments upon physician referral
  • Serve as the primary point of contact in cases involving child abuse or neglect, elder abuse or neglect, institutional abuse, and domestic violence, and act as liaison with protective agencies
  • Provide clinical intervention support in matters involving guardianship, foster care, adoption, and mental health Level II placements
  • Support individuals experiencing acute crises through de-escalation techniques designed to prevent violence and ensure safety
