About The Position

Mains’l Services, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Behavioral Health Counselor to join our wellness team. As a member of the Wellness department this position provides advanced assessment, therapeutic interventions and clinical consultation for persons who have developmental disabilities and coexisting mental health concerns with behavioral health needs, and their support teams. As a behavioral/mental health professional the Behavioral Health Counselor provides behavioral/mental health assessment, helps to develop person-centered treatment plans, and associated training, in support of the person and their support teams within home and community based settings as well as in private family homes. The position works collaboratively with support team members such as; parents/guardians, staff, families, employers, schools, mental health professionals, medical professionals, and other stakeholders in assessment, intervention development, training, and evaluation. The addition to the wellness team will be a part of a creative team that prides itself on developing person centered, innovative therapeutic / behavioral supports for people, which leads to an increased quality of life.

Requirements

  • Meet the Education, certification, and supervised experience standards for a Positive Support Analyst set by the Department of Human Services (DHS) under Minnesota Statutes 245D.091, subdivision 3
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with people with disabilities
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in behavioral health
  • At least one year of experience developing and implementing therapeutic / behavioral interventions for people who exhibit challenging behavior.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Reliable Transportation and Insurance
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing training for groups of 5- 25 people.
  • Experience with application of evidence based behavioral practices and/or therapeutic approaches.
  • Working knowledge of the state waivered system and state statute 245D.
  • Working knowledge of personal safety trainings and/or the ability to train others (PCMA, MANDT, QBS).
  • Experience in participation in or facilitation of interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Working knowledge of/skills in person-centered practices and trauma informed care.
  • Experience in a supervisory role.
