About The Position

The Behavioral Health Coordinator is responsible for coordinating patient services within the Behavioral Medicine practice, including overseeing psychological testing schedules, obtaining testing authorizations, scoring and scanning psychological assessments, and maintaining testing inventory. This role also supports referral management, patient financial counseling, front office operations, insurance benefit verification, and other administrative functions as needed. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent customer service, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One year of office experience, preferably in a medical setting.
  • Knowledge of Behavioral Medicine policies and practices, including state and federal regulations.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance practices.
  • Knowledge of reimbursement practices, including third-party reimbursement.
  • Understanding of CPT, ICD-9, and HCPCS coding policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency with computer programs and applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Excellent customer service, organization, and multitasking abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in Business Administration or completion of a secretarial program.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient services and oversee psychological testing schedules.
  • Obtain and follow up on testing authorizations.
  • Score, process, and scan psychological tests in accordance with office protocols.
  • Maintain inventory of psychological testing supplies.
  • Answer and process incoming referral calls following established office procedures.
  • Provide financial counseling to patients with delinquent accounts or limited payment resources.
  • Create financial agreements for patients with pending and current Cornerstone balances and obtain signed Budget Payment Arrangements.
  • Respond to medical records and billing inquiries.
  • Verify insurance benefits and provide support in insurance-related processes as needed.
  • Assist with front desk operations and provide coverage for support staff when necessary.
  • Support charge entry, payment posting, and deposit processing.
  • Make appointment confirmation calls and communicate with the Office Manager regarding unconfirmed appointments.
  • Serve as a role model for outstanding customer service and support administrative staff in delivering a positive patient experience.
  • Communicate professionally and courteously with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment by supporting decisions, adapting to change, managing conflict effectively, and valuing the contributions of others.
