The Behavioral Health Consultant provides direct patient/family care through assessments, collateral consultation and therapeutic interventions. This role involves collaborating with others in a team setting, possessing excellent communication skills, and maintaining a positive attitude toward problem-solving. The consultant will utilize conventional therapies such as CBT, MI, and ACT, as well as complementary therapies like meditation, relaxation, and breathing techniques. They will conduct interventions to support health behavior changes related to sleep, smoking, nutrition, exercise, and chronic health conditions. The role requires the ability to effectively treat a wide scope of behavioral health issues, including trauma, relationship and intimacy issues, postpartum depression, adjustment disorder, and anxiety. The consultant will triage patients accurately and efficiently across various Community Health Network settings, demonstrating effective utilization of outcome scales and ensuring appropriate and timely documentation. Additionally, the position involves assisting in staff consultation/supervision and training, integrating applicable research into clinical protocols, and planning/facilitating trainings on bio-psychosocial approaches. The consultant will also assist with managing urgent behavioral health needs with medical providers, provide direct clinical services within a multidisciplinary team, conduct comprehensive diagnostic assessments, and use evidence-based behavioral health interventions within the bio-psychological model. They will provide comprehensive links to other treatment programs as appropriate and recognize the importance of patient satisfaction. The role includes mentoring, training, and orienting new BHCs, serving as a resource for the multidisciplinary team, and communicating recommended behavioral health interventions to medical providers. The consultant will work collaboratively with the Team Leader to promote program quality and achieve department goals, comply with all applicable policies and procedures, and actively participate in professional development to build knowledge in treatment adherence, chronic-disease management, and medical literacy.
