About The Position

As a member of the Health Support Center (HSC) team, you’ll support those that are in our facilities who are interfacing and providing care to our patients and community members to positively impact our mission of making communities healthier ®. A behavioral health coder who excels in this role assigns accurate ICD diagnosis codes, using compliant documentation, and assigns accurate CPT/HCPCS codes to records, using compliant documentation. They apply knowledge of Coding Guidelines to select the appropriate diagnosis code, use available research and reference tools to understand the disease process and diagnosis, and interpret physician documentation within the coding guidelines and obtains clarification from physicians regarding vague or ambiguous record documentation. They also enhance coding knowledge and skills with continuing education activities as described in HIM.COD.003 policy and by reviewing pertinent literature.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Behavioral health coding experience is highly preferred
  • Certified Coder
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities
