Requirements

  • Fluent in English and Spanish (required)
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in the healthcare industry with significant direct patient care involvement
  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain accurate patient records
  • Genuine commitment to serving vulnerable and underserved populations with respect and cultural sensitivity

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program
  • Previous experience in a behavioral health or mental health setting
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or similar healthcare credential
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the welcoming first point of contact, greeting patients and visitors with warmth and professionalism while routing them appropriately
  • Coordinate all aspects of the Behavioral Health program, including patient intake, information updates, co-pay collection, and appointment scheduling
  • Collaborate seamlessly with the Behavioral Health team to coordinate consultations and implement treatment recommendations as directed by providers
  • Schedule patient appointments according to established provider and department-specific guidelines
  • Triage behavioral health emergencies and concerns in partnership with therapists, ensuring appropriate and timely responses
  • Proactively follow up with patients who have missed appointments or fallen behind on treatment
  • Support patients in completing their treatment plans and achieving positive health outcomes
  • Serve as an advocate for underserved individuals, demonstrating sensitivity to each client's unique cultural background, circumstances, and needs
