Responsible for providing personal care services to patients at the facility under the direction of clinical or nursing leadership. This role involves coordinating and leading the work of others, identifying developmental needs of staff through coaching and mentoring, and ensuring patient safety through required rounds and maintaining a clean environment. The position also includes obtaining vital signs, engaging with patients in therapeutic activities, responding to distressed patients, applying de-escalation techniques, and assisting with seclusion and restraints when necessary. The Behavioral Health Associate contributes to the multidisciplinary team by providing safety, increasing coping skills, and developing strategies for patient independence. They monitor behavioral improvements, reinforce positive behaviors, and communicate changes to the team. Additionally, they reinforce skills taught by nurses, physicians, and therapists, lead or co-lead therapeutic sessions, participate in rehabilitation programs, and teach wellness strategies. The role involves overseeing or assisting patients with daily living activities, delivering care based on priority needs, and assisting with admissions and discharges. Administrative tasks such as maintaining files and processing paperwork are also part of the role, as is providing or coordinating patient transportation. Quality of work is demonstrated through accuracy, neatness, and timeliness. A positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards customers is expected, with a focus on resolving complaints and prioritizing patient safety.
