About The Position

We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, creative, and dependable Behavioral Health Activities Specialist to organize and lead meaningful activities for patients in our inpatient hospital. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, planning activities, and creating a positive environment. No professional certification or previous hospital experience is required. Training will be provided. Individuals with experience in recreation, education, childcare, senior care, community programs, customer service, behavioral health, or other people-focused environments are encouraged to apply. RBTs, behavioral health technicians, activity professionals, and candidates interested in beginning a career in mental health are also welcome.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, recreational therapy, or related field.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with behavioral health needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
  • Understanding of therapeutic activity design and implementation.
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and lead structured activities for patients.
  • Facilitate arts and crafts, music, exercise, games, social activities, and other engaging programs.
  • Encourage patients to participate in a positive, respectful, and supportive manner.
  • Help create activities that promote social interaction, communication, healthy coping skills, confidence, and independence.
  • Adapt activities based on patients' needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Observe patient participation and communicate relevant information to the appropriate treatment team members.
  • Complete basic documentation related to patient participation.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming environment during activities.
  • Prepare activity spaces, materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Collaborate with nursing, clinical staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Follow hospital safety procedures, patient-rights requirements, and confidentiality standards.
