About The Position

Family of Kidz is seeking dedicated Behavior Technicians to work in school-based settings in Suffolk County. This role focuses on providing academic, behavioral, and social/emotional support to students with special needs. The position follows the school district calendar and offers daytime hours, with a schedule that varies based on the specific school district. We are looking for individuals passionate about working with children and adolescents, possessing strong communication and problem-solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality. A minimum of 6 months of experience working with children or adolescents with special needs in a supervised setting is required, along with a High School Diploma. Experience with students with autism and/or maladaptive behaviors is preferred, as is enrollment in or completion of an undergraduate program in psychology, healthcare, human services, education, or a related field. Bilingual candidates are a plus.

Requirements

Minimum of 6 months working with children or adolescents with special needs in a supervised setting
Minimum of High School Diploma required
Must have reliable transportation
Successful completion of or current enrollment in an undergraduate program in psychology, healthcare, human services, education or related field preferred
Experience with students with autism and/or maladaptive behaviors preferred
Critical thinker with a problem-solving mind
Bilingual is a plus

Responsibilities

Respond to the goals, needs and requests of students and supervisors, on an individualized basis, and in a professional manner.
Work closely with school personnel (e.g. classroom/ special teachers, TAs, school psychologist, social worker, behavior consultant, related service provider) to ensure the student’s success in the classroom.
Work collaboratively with a behavior consultant and/or clinical supervisor to provide academic, behavioral, and social/emotional support to student with special needs
Assist with classroom assignments under the direction of the classroom teacher.
Implementation of behavior support plans or skill acquisition programs (data collection, progress reporting, CPI training and implementation)
Help with daily living tasks, such as mobility, hygiene, and transitions.
Escort the student to different locations (bathroom, cafeteria, therapy sessions).
Maintain the confidentiality of information regarding students in accordance with State and Federal regulations
Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
