About The Position

As a Behavior Technician at LEARN Academy, you play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of comprehensive special education services to children with diverse learning needs. Working under the supervision of a special education teacher, you assist in implementing instructional strategies that enhance students' academic, social, and functional skills, promoting their success in the educational environment. Your responsibilities span across various school settings, interacting with students, teachers, administrators, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to student care. You support the implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs) and help monitor progress toward educational goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma - required
  • 1-2 years of experience working with children in a related position
  • Ability to lift more than 20 lbs
  • Current AZ IVP Fingerprint card
  • Applicants must be presently eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the special education teacher in carrying out instructional programs and lessons for individual students or small groups.
  • Support students in performing activities initiated by the teacher and reinforce concepts introduced in all learning environments.
  • Implement accommodations indicated by the IEP, such as reading tests aloud or taking notes.
  • Facilitate social integration by redirecting behavior and implementing behavior management plans.
  • Assist students with daily living skills and needs, such as eating, toileting, grooming, and dressing.
  • Provide support for mobility needs as directed by therapists or other related service providers.
  • Serve as a communication link by providing information about student participation and behavior to teachers and staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and assist with clerical tasks as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development activities to stay current with best practices in special education.
  • Supervise students during non-classroom activities such as lunch, recess, field trips, or assemblies.
