About The Position

A Discovery Schools Behavior Technician/ Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides 1:1 and small group behavioral support to students, implementing individualized treatment plans and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) designed by the Behavior Analyst (BCBA). They work in classrooms to reduce problematic behaviors, increase social/academic skills, and collect data, often helping with IEP implementation and crisis intervention.

Nice To Haves

• Valid RBT Certification from the BACB. Extensive experience will be considered.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Delivers 1:1 or small group supports/ services, implementing BIPs and skill acquisition programs with fidelity.
• Records precise data on behavior, frequency, duration, and skill acquisition (e.g., A-B-C data).
• Collaborates with teachers, paraprofessionals, and administrators to support students within the classroom environment, including managing transitions and social interactions.
• Implements strategies to decrease challenging behaviors and teaches appropriate replacement behaviors.
• Leads/assists team in supporting a student in crisis.
• Maintains accurate behavioral data and clinical notes to assist in developing or modifying IEP goals.
• Participates in staff training, applies safe crisis management techniques, and follows school safety policies.
