About The Position

The Behavior Support Technician provides direct and indirect services to support Program Specialist, Program Managers, Direct Support Professionals, Life sharing Providers, and individuals receiving services and support through Futures.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, or human services related field.
  • Pass a background check
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with youth and/or adults with developmental disabilities and/or autism
  • Knowledge of behavior intervention techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Have a working knowledge of all agency policies and procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with 6100 and 6400 regulations along with updated ODP requirements communicated through bulletins and communications.
  • Performs all job duties with the Agency’s mission and vision.
  • Identify individual’s strengths, needs, and goals.
  • Completes at least 24 hours of training per year, including mandatory training
  • Willingness to utilize/learn computers for daily documentation, training, etc.
  • Provide opportunities for individuals to integrate and support them within their community.
  • Provide support and problem-solving techniques to individuals, staff, and Futures clinical team.
  • Responsible for medication administration.
  • Must maintain Approved Medication Personnel Status and adhere to polices and procedures relevant to medication administration.
  • Maintains and adheres to ethics of confidentiality
  • Provide assistance with individual’s emotional issues and provide support and solutions.
  • Encourage individuals to be independent with their daily skills and/or be willing to teach them skills to become independent.
  • Elevates concerns for individuals’ health and safety immediately.
  • Provide crisis intervention techniques and immediate behavioral reinforcements.
  • Perform skills learned from RTI (Response to Intervention training) and BST (Behavior Skills training)
  • Observe and reports individuals’ behaviors and changes in physical condition, utilize prescribed strategies to assist the individual, and document accordingly.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the individual support plan and/or behavior support plan.
  • Assist with the collection of information about individuals using interviews, historical background, observational techniques, and other assessment methods.
  • Gather data and other behavioral records to provide to the Behavior Support Professional to support the development of functional behavior assessments, behavior plans, and other behavioral supports.
  • Model appropriate implementation of behavior support plans.
  • Assist with documentation of progress of behavior goals, activities, and response to treatment in a clear, concise, and timely manner.
  • Assists individuals and staff with therapeutic activities.
  • Active member and participant of a multi-disciplinary team related to the planning and care of the individuals.
  • Performs all related tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor
