About The Position

Our Victory Learning Center Program is expanding, and new classrooms will be opening in 2026! Be a part of our growth—join our team and help us make a difference! We are seeking a Behavior Support Supervisor to oversee our team of Behavior Support Technicians, ensuring a safe and effective school setting. Our Victory Learning Center Programs offers specialized educational services for students who are diagnosed with Autism or a Cognitive Disability paired with a mental health diagnosis. There are two separate sites conveniently located in Lackawanna, NY, with a third site opening in September 2026! Our schools service students ages 5-21, who are residentially placed or are referred through their local school district's Committee on Special Education.

Requirements

  • Functional knowledge of Restorative Practices and the willingness to use RP techniques when managing situations between staff or students.
  • Requires the ability to utilize computer systems and software necessary to perform position functions.
  • Requires effective oral/written communication and interpersonal skills for interactions with various individuals both internal and external to the program.
  • Must be able to deal tactfully and effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload and deadlines.
  • Significant problem solving and diagnostic skills with the ability to quickly analyze situations and adopt an effective course of action.
  • Ability to handle stressful and sensitive situations in a professional manner.
  • High school diploma.
  • 10 plus years in the development/implementation of behavior support plans with individuals who have developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and/or mental health concerns.
  • Must demonstrate basic knowledge and competencies in Applied Behavioral Analysis.
  • At least 3-5 years in the development/implementation of behavioral support plans with individuals who have developmental disabilities and/or mental health concerns using Applied Behavior Analysis methodology.
  • At least 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
  • NYS Driver’s License.
  • Become a trainer in one of the program crisis curriculum (SCIP-R or Ukeru) within 1 year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, School Psychology or Mental Health Counseling.

Responsibilities

  • Hiring, training, and supporting Behavior Support Technicians.
  • Overseeing the daily routines and program expectations to ensure the safe and high-quality operation of the school while modeling and upholding the agency's values.
  • Collaborating with other members of the Building Leadership team for daily site supervision.
  • Interacting with families as needed to promote open and effective communication.
  • Leading and supporting the Behavior Support Technicians with collecting, organizing and maintaining data.
  • Supervising Behavior Support Technicians and other direct classroom support staff.
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of the school wide Classroom Behavior Management Plan (CBMP).
  • Maintaining data for the school wide Classroom Behavior Management Plan.
  • Training classroom teams on the school wide Classroom Behavior Management Plan and other necessary tier one interventions.
  • Providing crisis intervention for students.
  • Leading necessary training approaches and best-practice behavior methods for all staff.
  • Assisting with the completion of reports as necessary.
  • Creating an environment that is comfortable for being open and honest about views, feelings, and opinions.
  • Motivating and encouraging during new challenges, changes, or difficulties.
  • Objectively assessing situations and interactions, and offering suggestions for growth and ongoing feedback.
  • Conducting all duties, responsibilities, and daily activities in accordance with current best practice and ethical guidelines requirements.
  • Performing any other duty as requested by your Supervisor.
