About The Position

Hands of Heartland is seeking dependable and compassionate Behavioral Support Specialists to work with individuals with developmental disabilities who have behavioral challenges in Kearney, NE. Requirements

• Ability to be certified in enhanced behavioral intervention
• Valid driver's license
• Current automobile insurance
• Ability to pass registry and background checks
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds as needed
• Ability to use verbal and physical intervention to redirect and/or to complete an emergency safety intervention with a person who is physically aggressive or self-abusive

Nice To Haves

• At least two years of related experience
• A degree/certification related to behavioral health
• Current CNA certification
• Ability to obtain CEUs to keep CNA active

Responsibilities

• Provide services to address the wants and needs of people with developmental disabilities, which may include:
• Supporting personal goals
• Administering medications
• Planning and preparing meals
• Assisting with activities of daily living
• Transporting to and from day program and community outings
• Reinforcing therapies, including speech, behavioral support, and physical therapy
• Ensuring all needs are addressed in a respectful manner with dignity and personal choice
• Completing and maintaining required documentation on a web-based system
