Behavior Support Specialist - Brandywine School
About The Position
The Behavior Support Specialist (BSS) will work with students at the Brandywine School who exhibit frequent challenging behaviors in a school setting. This role involves providing behavior management support, implementing interventions developed by a Behavior Analyst (BCBA), transferring skills to individuals in their natural environment, and assisting teachers with student behavior management in the classroom. The Brandywine School is located on Devereux PA Children's Services' main campus in West Chester, PA, and serves children functioning at all grade levels using a multi-sensory educational strategy. The school focuses on transitioning students from school to career and equipping them with the necessary skills for success. Devereux's approved private schools offer innovative special education programs designed to help students return to their local schools and communities with the tools needed to succeed. Students may attend as day students or as part of a residential treatment program, with each student having an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) to guide their goal development and learning strategies.
Requirements
- Registered Behavior Technician certification or RBT eligible; required.
- At least 1 year of work experience with children or adolescents with behavior challenges preferred.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in a human service field preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide behavior management support to individuals in a school setting.
