About The Position

The Behavior Support Assistant (BSA) will support PRC-29 students across Warren County Schools in collaboration with the Behavior Support Specialist and Autism Team. The BSA will work with students exhibiting chronic behavioral challenges, providing direct support, intervention, and progress monitoring.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree or 48 semester hours of coursework
  • Prior experience working with students in the Exceptional Children population
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local Exceptional Children (EC) requirements
  • Familiarity with EC interventions and behavioral strategies
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to use data to inform instruction and evaluate student progress
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families

Responsibilities

  • Serve assigned students demonstrating persistent behavioral issues.
  • Build rapport with students and intervene using observation and established strategies.
  • Implement and support interventions developed by the EC Director, classroom teachers, and Behavior Support/Autism Team.
  • Collect baseline data for Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  • Adjust time spent with individual cases based on intervention effectiveness, as directed by the Behavior Support Specialist.
  • Use evidence- and research-based interventions to support students in the classroom, during transitions, and in crisis situations.
  • Collaborate with teachers and provide support as needed.
  • Teach appropriate social skills and study habits to students.
  • Maintain detailed daily documentation of student visits, interventions, time on task, and academic progress.
  • Submit documentation for review bi-monthly by the EC Director or the assigned Compliance Specialist.
  • Attend IEP meetings when requested to assist with benchmarks, behavior plan implementation, and crisis intervention planning.
  • Participate in relevant staff development and serve as an integral part of the Behavior Support Team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Exceptional Children.
