About The Position

The Behavior Support Assistant provides enhanced individualized behavioral health supports. This role involves implementing behavior plans and data collection as written, meeting regularly with the Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) and Program Administration to maintain continuity of care, and ensuring data collection is accurate and timely. The assistant also mentors supporting staff, provides observations and modeling in behavioral health supports, and assists with crisis intervention and other Behavior Intervention Specialists as needed. They attend meetings with individuals and support staff, submit written reports on significant events, and maintain a neat and organized program setting adhering to safety standards. Additionally, they report any changes in an individual's health condition or other pertinent information to their supervisor, immediately contact the medical department in case of injury, seizure, or health status changes, and assist individuals with van transfers, toileting, personal hygiene, and general transfers/lifting as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide enhanced individualized behavioral health supports.

  • Assist BIS to ensure data collection is taken correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Act as a mentor to supporting staff and provide ongoing observations and modeling in areas of behavioral health supports.
  • Assist with crisis intervention as required and with specific training.
  • Assist other Behavior Intervention Specialists as needed.
  • Attend meetings with individual and support staff.
  • Submit written reports (Case Action Summaries) on significant events.
  • Maintain program setting in a neat, organized manner; adhere to safety standards.
  • Bring to the attention of supervisor any changes in the health condition of the individual or any other pertinent information.
  • Immediately contact the medical department in case of injury, seizure or changes in individual’s health status.
  • Assist individual in/out of van as needed.
  • Assist individual with toileting and personal hygiene.
  • Assist individual, as needed, in transferring/lifting.
