About The Position
The Behavior Specialist is part of a multidisciplinary team and reports to the Assistant Director of Outpatient. The role supports a safe, therapeutic milieu, provides psychoeducation in individual and group settings, and helps implement treatment plans. Alongside direct patient care, the specialist develops skills in screening, data entry and documentation, principles of behaviorism, de-escalation techniques, and collaborative problem solving. The position calls for continuous learning, innovation, attention to quality of care and outcome measurement, professionalism, and collaboration. Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, curiosity, and comfort prioritizing safety and quality of care are important.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience working with children, adolescents, and families.
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, psychology, or a related field.
- Pass orientation and an initial competency assessment, and complete ongoing required training.
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification.
- Complete organization-approved de-escalation training within 6 months of hire.
- Department of Healthcare Services Live Scan fingerprint clearance.
- Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, curiosity, professionalism, and comfort prioritizing safety and quality of care.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in a setting using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
