About The Position

The Lansing School District is seeking a Behavior Specialist to provide support related to behavior for identified students. This role involves collaborating with other interventionists to ensure students are fully supported on their path to graduation and beyond. The Behavior Specialist will provide supplemental Tier 2 and 3 supports, work on problem-solving to reduce discipline issues, conduct small group sessions with students, and support the school's CRPBIS implementation. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (or currently hold an LSEA hourly position)
  • Strong data analysis skills related to student outcomes and attendance
  • Experience building relationships with racially diverse, economically diverse, and linguistically diverse students
  • Previous experience developing and implementing behavior programs in a school setting
  • Commitment to the Lansing School District mission and vision

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching, coaching, and/or student support experience in an urban school setting
  • Proficient in Excel, Google Sheets, and Synergy (among other systems)
  • Proficient in languages beyond English (in order to potentially communicate with students and parents who speak languages such as Spanish, Hindi, or Arabic)

Responsibilities

  • Provide supplemental Tier 2 and 3 supports to students.
  • Work on problem solving to reduce discipline issues.
  • Provide small group sessions with students.
  • Support the schools CRPBIS implementation.
  • Develop and implement tiered behavior support systems in collaboration with school administrators.
  • Build positive relationships with students.
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators for student support related to academics.
  • Provide student feedback and track student data.
  • Coordinate services and resources for students and families both in and out of the school building.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the building administrators.
