Requirements

  • Possess interpersonal skills to include the ability to work effectively with students, district staff and community members.
  • Possess strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and writing.
  • Ability to work in a cooperative learning environment.
  • Ability to utilize computer and multimedia technology as appropriate.
  • 60 college hours
  • Associate’s degree or higher

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a classroom teacher, teaching assistant, paraprofessional, or substitute teacher (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Supports teachers by assisting students who are struggling with focus in the classroom.
  • Provides supervision for students transitioning from the classroom to the Anchor room.
  • Works with students in the Anchor Room to complete reflection on issues such as behavior management and the prevention of undesirable behaviors that resulted in student’s placement in the Anchor Room.
  • Monitors all assignments, provides encouragement and feedback to students, monitors computer work, and provides instructional assistance as appropriate.
  • Supervises students during location changes.
  • Contacts teachers for work requests as needed.
  • Supervises lunchtime, as applicable.
  • Refers behavior problems to the school administrator.
  • Maintains professionalism with regard to confidentiality, dress, communication, and behavior.
  • Adheres to all Anchor Room policies and procedures.
  • Performs additional duties as required or assigned.
