About The Position

Join our team at Hamidian Training Institute, affiliated with the Aaron Center, a premier provider of outpatient mental health services in the Scranton, PA area. We welcome applicants who are currently enrolled in a degree program in a recognized clinical discipline and are looking to gain experience in the field while continuing their education. This is a part-time position offering school-day hours and working in community settings and/or the office.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience working with children, youth, or young adults
  • Volunteer, internship, or academic experience involving behavioral strategies, support services, or youth engagement will be considered
  • Willingness to learn and adhere to agency policies, ethical standards, and relevant regulatory guidelines
  • Collaboration within a treatment team
  • Relationship management

  • Read, speak and understand English language
  • Computer skills for electronic health records/notes
  • Complete various background clearances upon hiring
  • Completion of 40-hour RBT training upon hiring

Nice To Haves

  • Actively pursuing a degree in a recognized clinical discipline such as social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field is strongly preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Works with children from 2 to 21 years old
  • Provide IBHS services to children, youth and young adults as developed within the Individual Treatment Plan (ITP)
  • Provide IBHS services in agreed upon setting(s)
  • Follow ITP goals and implement therapeutic intervention and/or strategies to reach/achieve the ITP objectives
  • Consistently provide assigned number of hours authorized for IBHS services
  • Complete documentation, filing, and tracking methods to meet ITP objectives
  • Collects data about progress, systematically records and conveys the information to the Behavioral Specialist Consultant (BSC) and/or Mobile Therapist (MT)
  • Involve parent(s), guardian(s), or caregiver(s) in treatment, demonstrate behavioral strategies to the child, his/her parents, school staff and/or community staff
  • Reinforces parental roles by engaging parent(s) in the consistent application of treatment goals providing feedback in a positive manner
  • Understand client’s wellness, safety and crisis plans
  • Deescalating practices (redirection, changing location/environments, non-verbal cueing, verbal cueing, and coaching) to redirect and interrupt escalating behaviors
  • Complying with standards established by applicable paying, accrediting or licensing authorities
  • Documents progress, service notes using agency approved forms/format
  • Is an integral part of a treatment team, which may (not an exclusive or exhaustive list) include parents, siblings, grandparents, therapist, psychiatrist, school representative, juvenile probation, probation office, others providing services to child
  • Comply with Hamidian Training Institute’s and Behavioral Health Rehabilitative Services (BHRS) policies and ethical guidelines as set forth in state licensure guidelines.
