About The Position
To advance the mission and programs of the Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) by volunteering time and effort to support the Behavior & Enrichment team and gain valuable knowledge and experience.
Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- May be exposed to odors, diseases of animals that are possibly contagious, bites, scratches, animal waste, and moderate noise level.
- Must be able to stand and sit for long periods of time.
Responsibilities
- Assist and observe the Behavior and Enrichment team with behavior modification and enrichment.
- Assist with data entry.
- Assist with animal handling, when appropriate.
- Participate in stress and disease reduction efforts through purposeful and compassionate handling of animals in shelter environment.
- Ensure a safe environment by following all safety guidelines and modeling safe work practices.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to ARL policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
