Requirements

  • Knowledge of applied behavior sciences, psychology, and education.
  • Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and related disorders.
  • Knowledge of severe emotional disabilities.
  • Some relevant college course work and/or comparable experience in one of the behavioral sciences is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years (3) of experience in an education support role or current in-district employee with at least two (2) years of experience in an educational role and a supervisor recommendation.
  • May require specialized training in autism, non-crisis intervention, behavior theory and practices, and medically-related training to provide for the needs of assigned students.

Responsibilities

  • Student behavioral and/or social support in school.
  • Behavior and socialization training.
  • On-site problem solving and plan adjustment based on function.
  • Data record keeping.
  • Collect frequency and trial-for-trial data.
  • Engage in play-based instruction, discrete trial instruction, and/or implementation of an Applied Behavior Analysis treatment model.
  • Transition students to less restrictive educational settings.
  • Provide assistance to address skill deficits and to promote the development and use of alternative behaviors to students with extreme behavior issues.
  • Immediate response during instructional settings in which students may exhibit intensive undesired behaviors and required additional support during instructional periods.
