About The Position

This part-time position involves direct support to students with special needs within the Paramount Unified School District. The Behavior Aide will participate in school-district-planned activities, assist in preparing instructional materials, and support in-class activities under the guidance of school staff. The role also includes maintaining a positive learning environment, assisting with student assessments, and providing general observations of students. The aide will work with students individually or in groups, provide instruction, and may assist with classroom technology and adaptive equipment. Additional duties include supporting social skills, personal hygiene, playground supervision, and assisting school staff in crisis intervention and discipline. The position requires working cooperatively with students, school staff, and administration, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proof of High School Diploma or equivalency; or proof of an A.A. degree, 48 college units; or pass the Paraeducator Exam
  • Recent experience in working with groups such as youth groups, child centers, or playgrounds and/or experience requiring organizational skills is desirable.
  • Behavioral Therapist/Interventionist: 1 year (Required)
  • Ability to understand and anticipate the needs of children

Responsibilities

  • Direct support to students with special needs
  • Participate in activities planned by the school district staff

  • Assists school district staff in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom environment by keeping materials and equipment organized

  • Works with students individually, in small groups, whole groups or learning centers planned by the school district staff and provides instruction to student
