About The Position

Discover After School, founded in 2019, is dedicated to empowering children through after-school STEAM exploration. We offer before- and after-school programming, seasonal camps, training, and family/community events. Our vision is to expand our impact by opening preschools and fostering community partnerships. We aim to inspire creativity and innovation in the next generation through STEAM. As an After School Instructor at Annistown Elementary School, you will be a vital part of our dynamic team. Your role as an After-School Troop Leader is to create a safe and fun environment for elementary-aged students, embodying our mission and values to inspire young minds on their journey of discovery and growth. Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Background Screening & Drug Screening.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (Must be completed within 30 days of employment)
  • Strong verbal, listening, and written communication skills in English is required.
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, patient, responsible, and dedicated to enhancing program performance and impact.
  • Strong communication skills for interactions with children and administration.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities for daily challenges.
  • Embrace diversity by respecting all children, parents, and staff regardless of race, creed, abilities, religion, or sexual orientation.
  • Attend all meetings pertinent to this position.
  • Oversee and participate in the cleaning and maintaining of facilities, equipment, and all areas used.
  • Wear appropriate staff uniform as assigned.
  • Report to all scheduled shifts on time.
  • Uphold safety procedures for children, parents, and staff.
  • Follow scheduled activities.
  • Familiarity with and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Flexibility to perform additional tasks as required.
  • Promptly communicate any concerns to the Site Director.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual, with proficiency in both English and Spanish is a plus.
  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
  • Experience with Children: 1 year (Preferred)
  • First Aid Certification (Preferred)
  • CPR Certification (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent service to all students, families, co-workers, and school administration.
  • Meet the physical, emotional, and educational needs of the children in their care.
  • Work in a team environment; build and maintain healthy, cooperative relationships.
  • Communicate positively and effectively with the Site Director.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures both organizationally and departmentally to ensure the safety of children, parents, and staff.
  • Model positive behavior and educate children in a manner which contributes to mature and responsible behavior.
  • Complete all Discover After School and governmentally required training in the required time frame.
  • Implement the curriculum and schedule provided on a daily basis and provide feedback to such on a weekly basis.
