About The Position

The Beer Sales Associate provides extraordinary shopping experiences to guests and stocks merchandise. This role involves actively demonstrating the Company Mission Statement and Core Values, maintaining uniform standards, and possessing superior product knowledge. The associate will greet guests, engage in conversation, recommend merchandise (with a focus on in-house brands), answer questions about products, and build client relationships with regular guests. Responsibilities may include running a cash register, receiving merchandise, preparing promotional events, setting up displays, fronting merchandise, rotating stock, maintaining a neat sales floor and back stock, cleaning, and ensuring fresh price tags. The associate will also provide feedback to management on product movement and stock levels, prepare for and assist with inventory, and properly use computer and RF scanner equipment. Continuous improvement of skills and knowledge is expected, along with avoiding coworker conversations when guests are present and limiting personal cell phone use. The role requires carrying out management directives efficiently, practicing teamwork, possessing time management skills, managing stress in a fast-paced environment, and adhering to safety regulations. Physical demands include standing, lifting, carrying, walking, bending, and reaching products routinely weighing 50 pounds or more, with occasional lifts up to 100 pounds or more, and pushing/pulling 50-100 pounds or more. Communication with team members and guests, and clear vision are also required. Cleaning duties, including bathrooms, may be assigned. Attendance and timeliness are mandatory. This is not a remote sales job.

Requirements

  • State law says you must be over the age of 21 to work at Spec's.

  • Proven experience in sales, retail, or customer service.
  • Strong Beer knowledge in craft beers and national brands.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Clean shelves, bottles, aisles, and tables; look for product not stocked properly to avoid trips and falls.
  • Maintain fresh and readable price tags on all products.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding fast or slow-moving product, stock levels, out of stocks, and department needs.
  • Prepare sales floor and storage areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process if needed.
  • Properly use and maintain computers and RF scanner equipment.
  • Seek to continually improve related skills and knowledge to contribute to profitability and productivity.
  • Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.
  • Limit use of personal cell phone to work related activities only while on the sales floor.
  • Carry out directives of management efficiently.

  • Constantly stand, lift, carry, walk, and bend, and reach products routinely weighing 50 pounds or more. Use arms, hands, and fingers to feel, handle, reach, and lift. Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds or more occasionally using proper lifting techniques and tools. Push and/or pull 50-100 pounds or more regularly. Communicate with and understand team members and guests. See product and signage.
