About The Position

The Bed and Bread Driver drives a truck along a designated route, makes scheduled stops, loads and unloads meals, and respectfully serves meals to people at each stop. The role also involves picking up and delivering donated items, transporting items requiring a box truck, performing daily truck maintenance checks, reporting vehicle problems, and keeping the truck clean during and after routes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to get along with people.
• Dependability.
• Good communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• TB test and police clearance.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Complete Safe From Harm training and keep it current as needed.
• Valid Michigan Chauffeur license and approval through The Salvation Army MVR.
• Pass an MDOT physical.

Responsibilities

• Drive the truck along the designated route and make predetermined stops according to schedule.
• Load and unload meals on the truck.
• Prepare and respectfully serve meals to people at each stop.
• Pick up and/or deliver donated items using box trucks as assigned.
• Transport items that require a box truck.
• Complete daily truck maintenance checks and report problems to the designated person.
• Maintain the truck's cleanliness while on route and thoroughly clean it after the route is completed.
• Assist with picking up donated items.
• Log the number of people served.
• Safely operate the vehicle and follow all road rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
