About The Position

The Beamline Welding Machine Operator sets up, programs, runs, and maintains automated welding robots. This role focuses on loading/unloading beams, reading blueprints, monitoring weld quality with gauges, performing basic maintenance, troubleshooting errors, and ensuring safety to produce consistent, high-quality beam components on the welding robotic cell. The position requires basic MIG/TIG skills and strong attention to detail.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience with stamping and Roll forming presses and manufacturing.
  • Ability to read blueprints/technical drawings.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of measuring tools.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Teamwork skills.
  • Physical stamina (lifting, standing).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
  • Technical understanding of automated systems.
  • Basic manual welding skills (MIG/TIG).

  • Problem-solving skills for troubleshooting.
  • Physical ability to lift and move parts.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up, programs, runs, and maintains automated welding robots.
  • Loads and unloads beams.
  • Reads blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Monitors weld quality using gauges and cameras.
  • Performs basic maintenance on robots, including changing contact tips, gas nozzles, and gas distributors.
  • Troubleshoots errors and system malfunctions during production runs.
  • Ensures safety protocols are followed.
  • Performs quality checks using tape measures, bench and measuring stations, and automatic weld control cameras.
  • Positions workpieces using jigs/fixtures.
  • Inputs and adjusts parameters (power, speed, pattern) for the robot controller based on engineering specifications.
  • Visually inspects welds, uses measuring tools (gauges, calipers), and removes spatter to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Performs routine upkeep like cleaning nozzles, changing wire/tips, and lubricating.
  • Reports malfunctions.
  • Completes production logs, downtime reports, and quality records.
  • Maintains a clean work area and wears required PPE.
