This role serves as the on-site management and leader of a Bulk Distribution Center (BDC). The General Manager is responsible for the execution of all functions at the facility, including the daily, weekly, and annual operational planning and execution to meet distribution center, XDT, and store service requirements. They will recruit, train, and manage up to a 250 employee workforce on multiple shifts, and assist associates with HR-related issues. The General Manager will also recruit, hire, train, develop, and retain effective shift management teams. In conjunction with HR, they will develop, implement, and measure the effectiveness of associate training programs. They will evaluate staffing needs to meet daily demand, working with Operations Managers and Supervisors to move personnel to meet daily priorities and inventory flow, monitoring regularly and making adjustments as needed. Effective communication with Operations Managers and Supervisors regarding business objectives, safety issues, current issues, upcoming events, and demand for the day is crucial. The General Manager will set Operations Managers and Supervisors up for success to achieve or exceed key performance indicators, safety, performance, and budget targets. They will manage relationships with distribution centers, the local community, suppliers to the facility, and corporate constituents. Developing and nurturing a positive, focused, and productive work environment for all Team Members is expected, ensuring all corporate policies and procedures are adhered to and that short and long-term plans are implemented. The role is expected to be an effective steward of Lowe’s corporate resources. The General Manager will pursue professional growth and provide developmental opportunities for others by soliciting and acting on performance feedback. They will build collaborative, cross-functional relationships, delegate tasks and decisions, and foster open dialogue amongst team members. Working closely with employees to set goals and provide open feedback and coaching to drive performance improvement is key. They will manage designated work streams to meet customer and business needs by translating business plans into tactical action items. Aligning team efforts by building accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results, identifying and addressing improvement opportunities, and leading the facility through change are essential. Ensuring all safety policies and procedures are implemented and observed, and that equipment and work areas are neat, clean, and well-organized is a priority. Analyzing current procedures and initiating new ideas to improve productivity and efficiency, and identifying causes of product loss and taking corrective action as needed are also part of the responsibilities.
