About The Position

The BCR Mechanic – Light Truck / Engine is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on light-duty trucks and gasoline and diesel engines. This role ensures equipment reliability, safety, and performance while supporting efficient shop operations. The Mechanic reports directly to the Service Manager.

Requirements

  • Class A Mechanic experience preferred
  • Proven experience working on light trucks and/or engines (gas & diesel)
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic)
  • Valid Driver's License (required)
  • Ability to meet requirements to operate company light trucks
  • MVR required
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to quality

Responsibilities

  • Operate light-duty trucks, shop equipment, and diagnostic tools safely and efficiently
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and complete timely repairs on identified issues
  • Diagnose, service, and repair gasoline and diesel engines and related vehicle systems
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic malfunctions using diagnostic tools
  • Inspect and repair brake systems, steering components, suspension, and drivetrain systems
  • Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, fluid checks, battery service, and filter replacements
  • Test drive vehicles to diagnose issues and verify proper operation
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble engines and components as needed
  • Utilize shop equipment such as lifts, hydraulic jacks, A/C service machines, and diagnostic scanners
  • Inspect parts for wear, damage, and proper tolerances per manufacturer specifications
  • Read and interpret repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics
  • Maintain accurate service logs and documentation of all work performed
  • Keep work area, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and in good working condition
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic systems, including sensors and control modules
  • Work independently on standard repairs and assist with more complex jobs as needed
  • Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and applicable driving regulations
  • Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned by the Shop Foreman and/or Service Manager
