The BCBA will function in a supervisory capacity, providing oversight to all areas of programming, including the training of direct support professionals, person-centered strategies consultants, and DSP trainers. This role involves assisting in the development, facilitation, and follow-up training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), utilizing both discrete trial training and natural environment training models. The BCBA will also facilitate and assist in the development and identification of resources and support information for clients and their families. Direct instructional support includes model teaching, practicum supervision, class instruction, and in-service training for other support professionals. The position requires assisting in the development and implementation of assessment tools, conducting functional assessments and analyses, and developing behavior strategies to teach appropriate behavior and reduce maladaptive behaviors. Ongoing support and training will be provided to direct support professionals, ABA implementers, and other individuals supporting families. The role includes ongoing training and supervision of paraprofessional staff in ABA principles, methodology, and behavior reduction strategies. A key responsibility is creating and maintaining a data collection system to establish baseline and programmatic efficacy for all consumers, and to analyze data frequently to guide programming. The BCBA will develop behavior/treatment plans with a focus on teaching and antecedent strategies for reducing problematic behaviors. Regular meetings with supervised staff are expected to discuss consumer issues and provide support. The BCBA will review and sign off on behavior/treatment plan training for field staff and provide field supervision as needed. Session notes must be entered into the Set Works website within 72 hours of each session. Consultation services and ongoing communication with all constituents (other supports, parents, community, and community agencies) are essential. The BCBA must stay current with literature, new research findings, and resources, and maintain BCBA certification through continuing education courses (32 credits every 2 years). The role involves maintaining all data, paperwork, and communication between personal care staff and families, and providing ongoing feedback to government-related agencies. Other duties as assigned.
