About The Position

The Edinburg Center is seeking a BCBA for their Mental Health Specialty Flex Team. This is a mobile position in Central Massachusetts (Worcester). This role is not an ordinary BCBA position and focuses on applying ABA principles within the intersection of mental health and behavior, particularly with youth aged 21 and under who experience serious emotional and behavioral challenges or autism. The position involves conducting functional behavior assessments, designing positive behavior support plans, and collaborating with families and an interdisciplinary team of mental health clinicians.

Requirements

  • BCBA/LABA or close to it.
  • Experience conducting functional behavior assessments.
  • Experience designing positive behavior support plans.
  • Experience working with youth 21 years and under with serious emotional and behavioral challenges or autism required.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills.
  • Team player.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

  • Use the principles of ABA with youth who experience mental health challenges other than ASD to support them and their families.
  • Provide parent coaching.
  • Development of a FBA and BSP.
  • May participate in family therapy to observe patterns of behavior and family dynamics or to offer a different perspective.
  • Collaborate with a variety of collaterals.
  • Participate in individual and group supervisions with a BCBA and LICSW to assist with understanding the complexities of mental health or trauma related challenges and how to combine your skills with your clinical counterpart, as part of our agency's "Better Together" model.
  • Think outside the box and be flexible while following principles of ABA.
  • Understand that mental health and behavior are intertwined.
  • Be comfortable with independent work and teamwork as they will join an interdisciplinary team of master's level mental health clinicians, bachelors level clinicians, an occupational therapist, a young adult peer mentor, and a family partner.
