About The Position
The Battery Truck Operator is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient delivery and pick-up of automotive batteries and cores to and from customer locations and distribution centers. This role ensures proper handling of hazardous materials, maintains required documentation, and supports warehouse operations as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ years of experience in commercial or route delivery driving.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to handle batteries and materials weighing up to 75 lbs.
- Strong attention to safety and detail; comfortable handling hazardous materials with appropriate PPE.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and proper documentation procedures.
- Previous experience transporting automotive batteries or similar hazardous materials.
- Forklift certification or willingness to become certified.
Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicle in accordance with safety protocols and DOT regulations.
- Deliver and pick up automotive batteries and battery cores from customer locations and distribution centers.
- Load and unload batteries using appropriate equipment and handling procedures.
- Accurately complete delivery documentation, including core return paperwork.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness of assigned vehicle.
- Communicate with dispatch and warehouse teams to ensure accurate order fulfillment and delivery timing.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs.
- Assist with warehouse functions including loading, unloading, and inventory tasks as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
