Battery Test Engineer - Robotics

1XSan Carlos, CA
$106,400 - $146,300Onsite

About The Position

1X is building humanoid robots for home use, aiming to automate chores and tasks to give people more free time. This involves solving complex challenges in robotics, AI, and manufacturing simultaneously, at scale, and in a safe form factor for home environments. The company has been developing these robots since 2014 and is now focused on shipping its flagship product, NEO, a home robot designed for real-world operation alongside people. 1X is seeking individuals inspired by this mission who want to see their work have a tangible impact on the world and change how humans spend their time. The Energy Systems Engineering team is responsible for developing the battery systems that power NEO. This includes cell characterization, battery management algorithms, pack design, and overall energy system optimization to ensure safety, reliability, and high performance. Battery performance is crucial for robot capability, runtime, reliability, and user experience. The team collaborates closely with various engineering disciplines, including hardware, firmware, controls, robotics, and fleet operations, to ensure the battery systems function safely and predictably under demanding real-world conditions.
