About The Position

The Battery Technician is responsible for maintaining the battery fleet according to manufacturer recommendations, ensuring safe, efficient, and professional service to internal customers. This role involves changing, performing preventative maintenance, and repairing batteries and associated equipment, as well as managing battery inventory and hazardous material cleanup.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate work-related equipment and tools (hand and power), including powered equipment, forklifts, man-lifts, pallet jacks, and all types of testing equipment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • A DOT license to drive company vehicles.
  • Ability to interact with all warehouse employees in a professional manner.
  • Ability to perform repetitive arm, wrist, and hand movements required for maintenance, repair, and service procedures.
  • Manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance for working at ground level and at heights.
  • Mental alertness for safe and accurate completion of work activities.
  • Ability to learn and follow Company and Distribution Center policies and procedures regarding work orders, purchase requisitions/orders, and spare parts/supplies inventories.
  • Ability to read and comprehend labeling on hazardous materials and equipment.

  • Ability to operate all types of diagnostic equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Change batteries as needed for production, sanitation, and maintenance.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all batteries as scheduled.
  • Perform repairs on batteries, including cables, connectors, cells, and cases.
  • Perform minor repairs on battery charging equipment (cables, connectors, etc.).
  • Respond to and assist in hazardous cleanup from battery accidents.
  • Test battery performance using test equipment.
  • Maintain a 5S work environment.
  • Maintain accurate battery logs.
  • Manage all incoming and outgoing batteries, including preparation and documentation.
  • Assist others with repairs of Fire Protection/Suppression systems as required.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.
