About The Position

Hillyard, Inc. is currently seeking a Battery Program Technician to join our Distribution and Service teams in St. Joseph, MO. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with their hands, using tools, and understanding how things work. As a Battery Program Technician, you will work hands-on with commercial cleaning equipment, batteries, tools, and equipment components. Your responsibilities will include preparing equipment for customers, installing batteries, performing inspections and testing, and ensuring everything is in optimal condition before it leaves the facility. Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools.
  • Ability to carefully follow written, step-by-step procedures.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Basic understanding of AC and DC electrical systems.
  • Ability to use basic electrical testing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Dependable attendance and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email, and keyboarding.
  • Basic math and reasoning skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating overhead cranes, banding equipment, or battery-powered industrial equipment is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Install and prepare batteries for commercial cleaning equipment.
  • Perform pre-delivery inspections (PDI) to ensure equipment is operating properly before completion.
  • Use hand tools, torque wrenches, electrical testing equipment, and other tools to complete installations and inspections.
  • Prepare equipment and orders for delivery or customer pickup.
  • Assemble and maintain battery kits and related components.
  • Identify basic mechanical or electrical issues and communicate concerns to the appropriate team.
  • Safely operate warehouse and material-handling equipment.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of parts, tools, batteries, and kit components.
  • Complete required work orders, documentation, time sheets, and reports.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Complete required training and certifications.
  • Follow company, equipment, and DOT safety procedures.
