About The Position

This role serves as a technical expert for the development of cell assembly processes, including the development and approval of cell assembly equipment specifications. The position provides technical leadership and coaching to team members and stakeholders. Responsibilities include developing battery cell assembly processes, engineering specifications, and documentation. The role also involves developing and implementing the Bill of Process and Bill of Equipment. A key aspect is interfacing and building relationships with JV partners to support the flawless launch of battery cell manufacturing facilities. Collaboration with machinery and equipment suppliers is crucial for procurement, design, build, validation, and start-up of cell assembly equipment. Additionally, the role focuses on optimizing the cell manufacturing line layout for assembly processes and supporting construction teams with specifications for building and facility requirements related to assembly processes. Support for the implementation of GM safety specifications and equipment safety reviews is also required. The position will develop assembly strategies for the implementation of next-generation battery cell technology and interface with leadership to support the development of battery cell manufacturing strategies. Travel of 25% is required, both domestically and internationally. The work policy is hybrid, with 3 days in-office and 2 days remote, requiring the ability to report to a local office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field of study.
  • Five (5) years of experience as a GMIO GPS Manufacturing Engineering, or related occupation.
  • Five (5) years of experience in Lean manufacturing approaches and tools; APQP & PFMEA, Process Control Plans, Bill of Process (BoP) and Bill of Equipment (BoE); Problem solving methodologies including Shainin, DFSS, and Red-X; and Global Manufacturing System (GMS).
  • Three (3) years of experience in High-speed assembly equipment used in battery cell manufacturing lines; and Statistical Process Control and Process capability.
  • Two (2) years of experience in Installation, debug and start up of high volume assembly equipment; Global Propulsion Systems Development Process (GPDP), Propulsion Systems Quality and Readiness Review (SPQRR); and Project Management.
