About The Position

Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa subsidiary, is an industry leader in the engineering design and fabrication of concrete, lattice, and tubular steel structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications. With over sixty years of innovative engineering and manufacturing expertise, Meyer has helped to author and validate many of today’s transmission industry standards and specifications. As a Batch Plant Operator, you’ll be responsible for but not limited to, leading the operation of equipment that mix/blend materials such as cement, aggregate and water to create high strength concrete used in the production process, as well as maintaining this equipment.

Requirements

  • >1 year experience of concrete batching and a knowledge of all aspects of concrete batching technology, equipment and methods
  • Participation/lead plant safety and environmental meetings
  • Obtain Batch Plant operator certifications such as ACI certifications.
  • Ability to work well, lead and motivate others to achieve high product levels
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools and electronic test equipment
  • Ability to work in an environment of various temperatures with exposure to chemicals such as cement, form oil and admixes.
  • Knowledge of computers in order to run batching programs, Excel and Word documents
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain good on-time attendance

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety procedures, plant policies and Batch Plant work instructions
  • Report to Plant Manager any personnel, material or equipment issues
  • Oversee/generate concrete mixes using batching equipment during shift that conform to specifications
  • Oversee the collection of concrete batch data
  • Communicate with QC department, engineering and plant personnel of any material variances
  • Ensure the batching equipment and surrounding areas are always kept clean
  • Operate heavy equipment to load materials such as rock and sand
  • Ensure mixing equipment is being properly maintained as scheduled
  • Determine root cause analysis of operating/concrete problems
  • Oversee proper raw material levels are being kept (aggregates, cement, admixes)
  • Ensure all required records are being kept with access for others to review
  • Perform other duties as required
