About The Position

The Batch Maker is responsible for accurately manufacturing paint and coating products according to established formulas, Batch tickets, quality standards, and safety procedures. This position operates mixing equipment, handles raw materials, monitors production processes, performs equipment cleaning, and ensures finished batches meet company quality requirements.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand work instructions, batch tickets, safety procedures, and company communications.
  • Ability to complete production records and communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Ability to accurately measure and calculate material quantities and batch adjustments.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to identify production issues and communicate concerns promptly to supervision.
  • Regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands and arms.
  • Frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to safely operate manufacturing and material-handling equipment.
  • Ability to distinguish colors accurately for product identification and quality verification.
  • Ability to maintain visual focus at varying distances.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Manufacturing, production, chemical processing, paint manufacturing, or related experience preferred.
  • Forklift operation experience preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Review and follow batch tickets, formulas, and production schedules.
  • Gather, verify, weigh, and measure raw materials according to batch requirements.
  • Load ingredients into mixing and processing equipment manually or with material-handling equipment.
  • Operate mixers, dispersers, tanks, pumps, and related production equipment.
  • Adjust machine settings and process parameters to achieve required product specifications.
  • Monitor batch progress and record production data accurately.
  • Conduct in-process quality checks and coordinate with Quality Control personnel as needed.
  • Ensure finished products meet established quality, color, viscosity, and performance standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized production area in accordance with housekeeping and safety requirements.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment between batches following established procedures.
  • Safely handle chemicals, resins, solvents, pigments, and other raw materials.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other approved material-handling equipment.
  • Wear and properly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist with inventory control, raw material handling, and other production-related duties as assigned.
